Who we are.

Build My Digital, 3 Hardman Street, Manchester, M3 3HF. We decide what happens to the details you give us through this site and our phone lines. For anything about your data, email hello@buildmydigital.co.uk or ring +44 7402 535260.

What we collect and why.

Booking a callback
Your name, number, business if you give it, the day and time window you pick and any note. We use it to ring you at that time. Lawful basis: taking the steps you asked for before any agreement with us.
Asking Tony to ring you
On the Call me now box, the short forms on our guides and quiz, and the demo receptionist's ring-me box: your name, UK mobile, and your business and town where the form asks. We ring once about what you asked. We text you only what the form says we will: a code to check the number is yours, a summary after a demo call, or a text about your request if you ticked the box for texts. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
The newsletter and guide downloads
Your email address. We use it to send The Build Sheet, our newsletter. Lawful basis: your consent. Reply unsubscribe to any email to leave.
The question box
Your question, the page you asked it on, and an email or mobile if you leave one. The question is answered from what this site says, and we read every question. We use the email or mobile only to reply to that question. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in answering questions about our work, and your consent for the reply.
The free scan
The website address you enter, and your trade and town if you add them. We store the address and its report so the scan can run and be shown to you; the report is never published. If a Google listing names that website as its own, we may ring the business on its listed number about the result, after screening the number. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running the scan and offering help with what it finds.
The post caption maker
Your trade, the job and the town you type, and the tone you pick. We send them to Anthropic to write the captions and show them to you, and we don't save them. A coded form of your internet address and the time of each use are kept for up to two days, to limit how many captions one visitor can make in an hour. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in giving you the tool you asked to use.
The demos
What you type or say to the demo receptionist and the Instagram reply demo, and the business name or website you give it. We use it to show you the demo. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in showing our work to people who ask for it.
Phone calls, WhatsApp and email
Your number or address, what you say or write, and for calls a recording, a transcript and a summary. Tony, our caller, answers +44 7402 535260 and the calls to our WhatsApp number. We use it to take your message or book your callback, and to check and improve how calls are handled. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in answering you and keeping a record of what was said.
Google Reviews Engine
When a business uses our review engine, it sends us its customers' first names and mobile numbers so the review requests can go out. They are kept in our database. To see, correct or delete what we hold, email hello@buildmydigital.co.uk.
The review link maker
The Google link or the business name and town you type. A name is sent to Google to find the business, and we don't save it. A coded form of your internet address and the time of each name search are kept in our database for up to two days, to limit how many searches one visitor can make in an hour. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in giving you the tool you asked to use.
Where you came from
Only if you click Accept on the cookie banner, which page or link brought you to us is kept with your enquiry: the first page you opened here, the website that sent you and any campaign tag in that link. Your browser holds them for that visit only, until you close the tab. If you click Reject or have not chosen, none of it is kept or sent. Lawful basis: your consent.
The email check
The email address or domain you type. We look up its public email records and don't save it. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in giving you the tool you asked to use.
Screening numbers before we ring
Before we ring a number about a form or a scan, we check it against the TPS and CTPS registers, the UK lists of numbers that have opted out of sales calls. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in never ringing a number that has opted out.

If we contacted your business first.

We contact local businesses about their website and how customers find them. For that we collect the business name, its published phone number and email address, the owner's first name where it is published, its website, and the details on its Google listing, such as its rating and reviews. We take these from public listings, such as Google Maps and Companies House, and from the business's own website. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in offering our services to businesses.

Before we ring a business, we check its number against the TPS and CTPS registers, and we do not ring a number listed on them. Our emails go through Resend, our calls through Vapi and Twilio, and our texts through Twilio. To stop hearing from us, reply STOP to a text or “stop” to an email, or email hello@buildmydigital.co.uk. We keep these details as set out under how long we keep it, below.

Call recording.

Calls to and from our numbers are recorded and transcribed, voicemails included. We use the recordings to take your message correctly, to check what was agreed, and to improve how calls are handled.

How we measure the site.

If you click Accept on the cookie banner, we use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use this site and improve it. Clarity records how pages are used: clicks, scrolls, heatmaps and session replays. What you type into forms is masked, so it is not recorded. It sets cookies that hold a unique ID, and what it records is sent to Microsoft.

With the same Accept we also use Google Analytics, to count visits, see where visitors come from and which pages lead to a call, a message or a booking. It sets cookies that hold a random ID (named _ga), and what it measures is sent to Google. We have switched off Google's advertising features for this site. You can read how Google handles data in its privacy policy.

Clarity and Google Analytics load only after you click Accept. Neither loads if you click Reject or have not chosen. To change your mind, use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. You can read how Microsoft handles data in its privacy statement.

Lawful basis: your consent.

Who handles it for us.

These companies process your details on our behalf, each only for the part named. Some of them process data outside the UK, including in the United States. We never sell your details.

Vercel
hosts this website and runs its forms.
Hetzner
hosts our own server, which files enquiries and runs our calls and texts.
Supabase
our database, where form enquiries, newsletter sign-ups, call records and the free tools' usage counts are stored.
Telegram
carries new bookings, questions, voicemails and call summaries to us.
Data8
checks numbers against the TPS and CTPS registers.
Resend
sends our emails.

Anthropic
writes the answers in the question box, the demos and the post caption maker.
Google
finds a business on Google Maps when a form or a scan names it, and runs Google Analytics if you click Accept.
Microsoft
runs Clarity if you click Accept.
Meta
carries messages you send us on WhatsApp.
Bland AI
places the call when someone books a call with us through Calendly.

How long we keep it.

This covers what you send us through this site or our phone lines, call recordings and transcripts included, and what we hold about a business we have contacted. Our policy is to keep it no longer than 24 months after our last contact with you, then delete it. A newsletter sign-up stays until you unsubscribe.

When a business we work with uses our review service, the records of each of its customers (their number, the texts and their replies) are deleted automatically 24 months after the last text to or from them.

Your rights.

You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, limit how we use it, object to how we use it, or get a copy to take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email hello@buildmydigital.co.uk, ring +44 7402 535260 or write to us at 3 Hardman Street, Manchester, M3 3HF. We reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would rather hear from you first, so we can put it right.

Straight answers

Common questions.

Do you set analytics cookies?
Not without your consent. The site works fully without them.
Will you ring me if I fill in a form?
Only if the form says so and you ask for it. Booking a callback and the ring-me boxes lead to a call; the newsletter and the question box do not. If you run the free scan on a website that a Google listing names as its own, we may ring that business on its listed number about the result, after checking the number against the TPS and CTPS do-not-call registers.
How do I get my data deleted?
Email hello@buildmydigital.co.uk and we delete what we hold about you.
